Dropped orders
"Dropped" is a system status used when an order is automatically dropped after a period of inactivity, such as from an abandoned cart or an expired draft order created manually.
-
The default timer for the cart is 20 minutes in the shop and 40 minutes in admin
The dropped status is final, and a dropped order can not be changed back to "In-cart" or "Booked". A new order must be created if the customer wants to proceed.
What are dropped orders?
A dropped order is a cart that was created, but never completed.
- The customer added one or more products to the cart
- But did not complete checkout or payment
- The order was never completed
What counts as a dropped order?
- Customer adds product → leaves the site
- Customer starts checkout → doesn’t finish
- Customer reaches payment → doesn’t complete
All of these = dropped.
You can see your shop's dropped orders ratio in the Dashboard.

Why is the number high?
A high number of dropped orders is normal.
- Many users never intend to complete a purchase
- Some use the cart to “check total price”
- Internal testing also increases the number
Common reasons customers abandon their carts
- Customers are browsing or comparing prices
- They get interrupted (life happens)
- Checkout feels too long or confusing
- Payment step causes hesitation
- Something is unclear (price, availability, etc.)
- Staff/test orders are abandoned (use the "Discard" button to avoid this)
