How to update your DNS settings

Note: Even if you don't see your provider in this list, the information could still be useful, and help you figure out the settings in your provider's portal.


DOMENESHOP / DOMAINNAMESHOP

  • Log in to the domeneshop portal and click "My domains"
  • Click the relevant domain
  • Choose "DNS records"

  • Click on "Show advanced settings..."


Fill in the requested information at the bottom line, use the 2nd dropdown to choose type, then click on the plus at the end to save / add a new line.

Here is an A record as example:



DREAM HOST

  • Log in to the dreamhost.com portal
  • Find your domain
  • All the way to the right, behind the domain name, it says "DNS". Click on that.
  • Click "+ add record"
  • Choose type A, TXT, CNAME etc
  • Fill in the requested info
  • Repeat if you need to add more lines
  • Click "Save". The progress bar at the top of the page will let you know when the update is done.


ONE.COM

Create a TXT record on your domain

  1. Log into the one.com Control Panel.
  2. Scroll down and click DNS settings on the Advanced settings tile.
  3. Go to DNS records.
  4. Under create new record, click TXT.

  5. Enter the following details:

    Leave the hostname empty, or add a subdomain.

    Enter the TXT string under Value.

    Optionally enter a TTL, or leave it empty to default to 3600 seconds.

  6. Click Create record to save your settings.

Create a CNAME record on your domain

  1. Log into the one.com Control Panel.
  2. Scroll down and click DNS settings on the Advanced settings tile.
  3. Go to DNS records.
  4. Under create new record, click CNAME.

  5. Enter the following details:

    Hostname: The subdomain (required) that will become the alias, for example, www.

    Is an alias of: The domain name that you want to create the alias of, this can't be an IP address.

    TTL: Optionally. If you leave it empty, it will use the default time 3600 seconds.

  6. Click Create record to save your settings.

Create a DMARC record on your domain

  1. Log in to the one.com Control Panel.
  2. Scroll down and click DNS settings on the Advanced settings tile.
  3. Go to DNS records.

  4. Under Create new record, click TXT.

    Add the requested setting, for example: v=DMARC1; p=none;

    Leave TTL empty to default to 3600 seconds.


  5. Click Create record to save your settings.
  6. Wait a few minutes and check if your record is set up correctly with a DMARC record checker.

FASTWEB / SYSE / UNIWEB

  1. Choose 'Domenenavn' (Domain name) from the control panel menu, and click the domain you want to edit.
  2. Choose 'Redigere DNS' (edit DNS) from the sub menu.
  3. Click 'Legg til DNS-post' (add DNS-record).

Add the requested settings.


Example values:

  • Navn (name): domenenavn.no (your domain, or subdomain, you are adding a record to).
  • Type: CNAME
  • Innhold (value): the host name your domain should point to. Use domain name only, without http/https.

  • TTL: 10800


  • Navn (name): domenenavn.no (define the domain/subdomain you are adding the TXT record to).
  • Type: TXT
  • Innhold (value): The requested TXT string (i.e.: v=DMARC1; p=none;)

  • TTL: 10800


  • Click 'Lagre' (save)



Create a subdomain and point it to Sharefox

To create a subdomain on your domain you first have to create a DNS-record for the hostname, and point it to an IP-address or another hostname:


  1. Choose 'Domenenavn' (Domain name) from the control panel menu, and click the domain you want to edit.
  2. Choose 'Redigere DNS' (edit DNS) from the sub menu.
  3. Click 'Legg til DNS-post' (add DNS-record).

Choose type A.

  1. In the field 'Navn' (name), put the name for your new subdomain: newsubdomain.dittdomene.no
  2. In the field 'Innhold' (value) put the Sharefox IP: 34.91.196.78
  3. Add TTL, usually 10800.
  4. Click 'Lagre' (save).

Repeat with www. if you want to point that as well.

Else you can use the www-forwarding option:

  1. Choose 'Domenenavn' (Domain name) from the control panel menu, and click the domain you want to edit.
  2. Choose 'Videresend domene' (forward domain) from the dropdown.
  3. Add type 301 and the address without the www. (to forward to the address you added above without www)
  4. Click 'Lagre' (save).


LOOPIA.NO

  • Log in to the loopia.no portal by clicking on the user symbol in the top right menu
  • Find the domain you want to make changes to and click on it
  • Under "Konfigurasjon" (configuration) > Choose "DNS redigeringsverktøy" (DNS edit tool)
  • Click on "Legg til subdomene" (Add subdomain)

In the new box > Fill in the requested information (without adding your domain name). Make sure to choose the correct post type (A, CNAME, TXT) from the dropdown.

TTL: 3600
