How to update your DNS/Domain settings

To make your site go live, your domain must point to the correct address. This is configured with your DNS provider (where you purchased your domain) and you will need to update a few settings. If you find this difficult, you can ask your service provider to handle the configuration for you.    Where can I find the settings?



Step 1:

Set up an A record for your sub.domain.com pointing to IP address 34.91.196.78


Note:

You can use default settings from your DNS provider, but if you are asked for advanced settings, use:

  • Record type: A
  • TTL: 1 hour / 3600 sec

Step 2 (optional):

To use the "www" subdomain, add a forwarding rule*:

From: www.sub.domain.com

To: sub.domain.com


* If your DNS provider does not support forwarding, you can use one of these alternatives:

  • A) Set a CNAME record for www.sub.domain.com pointing to sub.domain.com
  • B) Set an A record for www.sub.domain.com identical with the A record for the main domain above

Important:

  • If you choose to use www without forwarding (via a direct A or CNAME record), please let us know so we can connect it correctly.
  • Please make sure any AAAA records are removed both on the main domain and on www subdomain.com, if that is going to be used

Step 3:

Please inform Sharefox Support when the changes are made. We will then connect the site and activate SSL.

Note: Even if you don't see your provider in this list, the information could still be useful, and help you find the settings in your provider's portal.




DOMENESHOP / DOMAINNAMESHOP

  • Log in to the domeneshop portal and click "My domains"
  • Click the relevant domain
  • Choose "DNS records"
  • Click on "Show advanced settings..."


DREAM HOST

  • Log in to the dreamhost.com portal
  • Find your domain
  • All the way to the right, behind the domain name, it says "DNS". Click on that.


ONE.COM


  1. Log into the one.com Control Panel.
  2. Scroll down and click DNS settings on the Advanced settings tile.
  3. Go to DNS records.



FASTWEB / SYSE / UNIWEB

  1. Choose 'Domenenavn' (Domain name) from the control panel menu, and click the domain you want to edit.
  2. Choose 'Redigere DNS' (edit DNS) from the sub menu.


LOOPIA.NO

  • Log in to the loopia.no portal by clicking on the user symbol in the top right menu
  • Find the domain you want to make changes to and click on it
  • Under "Konfigurasjon" (configuration) > Choose "DNS redigeringsverktøy" (DNS edit tool)
